Time to take advantage of the fact that I have a constant wheeling accessory, and decorate it up for my favorite time of year! CHRISTMAS!! Don’t waste your time trying to find decorations made specifically for wheelchairs; the few things I did find were crazy expensive. So I just came up with my own, and it cost less than $10 total. You guys, they blink!!!
Here’s the lights I used. I just got them from Walmart; they’re battery powered (AA batteries, nothing hard to find) indoor/outdoor light strips. Less than $5 each so I just bought one for each wheel!
I wrapped the cords around the spokes and cut small strips of duct tape to hold them in place! The battery pack is secured by its own wire and a little duct tape, right at the center of the wheel so it won’t move much. I already tested it out wheeling around the park and, it’s AWESOME! One little press of a button and I’m a bright, wheeling, Christmas-cheer spreading machine! 🙂
My kids think it’s pretty cool, too. Hooray! Merry Christmas!!!
Love this! Heading to WalMart to get some! Thanks for sharing!!
That’s so cute and fun! Any chance you could post close up photos? Thanks!
